CHEYENNE, Wyoming — A 50-mile stretch of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie remains closed because of severe winter conditions.

The stretch has been closed much of the time since late Thursday morning because of heavy snow and crashes.

The closure also forced officials to shut down about 100 miles of eastbound I-80 lanes between Rawlins and Laramie Saturday morning.

Crews hope to reopen the interstate as conditions improve Saturday.
