LEAKESVILLE, Mississippi — An inmate who escaped from a Greene County correctional facility work detail has been captured.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections says in a news release that Dexter Patrick was arrested without incident about 7:40 a.m. Friday in State Line after authorities were altered to his whereabouts by a citizen.

Patrick was reported missing from a work detail shortly after noon Thursday. He allegedly stole a truck, which was later found abandoned.

Authorities say Patrick was tracked all night not far from the Leakesville prison in an area between Mississippi Highway 57 and U.S. Highway 45.

Corrections officials say Patrick will be charged with escape.

Patrick is serving a 52-year sentence for armed robbery and vehicle theft for crimes committed in Hinds, Copiah, Rankin and Madison counties.
