NORTH ADAMS, Massachusetts — A North Adams man caught by police with about 1,000 bags of heroin in his car has been sentenced to nine months in jail.

Michael Daury was sentenced Tuesday in Northern Berkshire District Court after admitting to sufficient facts on a charge of drug possession with intent to distribute, a reduction from the initial charge of trafficking in heroin.

The Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/1EVLgV1) reports that following his jail term he will be on probation until May 2017.

The 30-year-old Daury was pulled over April 29 after swerving around a closed railroad gate and for speeding.

Police say he had nine bags of heroin hidden in his socks, 50 in the glove box and more than 900 in the trunk.
