Forecasters expect thunderstorm to produce winds of up to 50 mph in north Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Forecasters are warning of heavy thunderstorms throughout north Alabama.

The National Weather Service says strong thunderstorms are likely to move through most of north Alabama Wednesday afternoon.

Forecasters say the storm could intensify and may produce winds of up to 50 mph and frequent lightning in many areas.
