2 arrested in drug-related shooting in Phoenix apartment; 3rd suspect at large

PHOENIX — Police have arrested two of three suspects in the shooting of a man in a north Phoenix apartment over drugs.

Authorities say 20-year-old Eric Edward Sparks was being held Friday without bail on one count of first-degree murder during a crime, armed robbery and tampering with evidence.

According to charging documents, 19-year-old Nicholas Decola arrived at the apartment Thursday to sell methamphetamines to Sparks and two others.

Sparks told investigators that he stunned Decola with a Taser to get the drugs and another suspect shot Decola in the head.

All three then fled.

Police say Decola was declared brain dead and is being kept on life support for organ donation.

Police have also arrested 22-year-old Adan Martinez.

They are still searching for a third, 20-year-old Jacob Kaplan.
