Fayetteville police: 34-year-old pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car

FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina — Fayetteville police say that a 34-year-old pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car.

A news release from police says that Stanford Lee Gray of Fayetteville died of his injuries after being struck while walking along the road Friday night. He was hit in an area north of downtown near the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

The driver of the car has been identified as a 43-year-old man who didn't suffer injuries.

A news release didn't say whether he'd been charged. An email was sent to police seeking further comment on possible charges.

Police described the crash as a hit-and-run, and they said they are continuing to investigate. They said a vehicle matching the description of the one in the crash was stopped nearby Friday.
