UPPER MARLBORO, Maryland — Police say an officer shot and injured two men at a Maryland shopping center, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Prince George's County police spokeswoman Julie Parker says the officers involved were not injured in Tuesday's shooting in Upper Marlboro, east of Washington.
Baltimore police say they alerted their counterparts after two vehicles were stolen from a car rental business. County police tracked one of the vehicles to the shopping center.
Parker says the shooting occurred when detectives arrived and one man in the stolen car pulled a gun. She says police are investigating the possibility that the men were at the shopping center to rob a bank. Police recovered two guns.
The second stolen car was found a few miles from the shopping center.
