ROCKLAND, Maine — Maine's annual celebration of its signature seafood is drawing to a close.
Sunday is the final day of the 67th annual Maine Lobster Festival, which began Wednesday. The event brings about 100,000 people, 20,000 pounds of lobster and one ton of melted butter to Rockland's Harbor Park.
Events on the final day included a race in which contestants run across lobster crates floating in the water, along with a children's lobster-eating contest and a race featuring children carrying slippery fish.
The five-day event in Rockland wraps up on a somber note with a wreath-laying at the public pier to remember Maine's fishermen who were lost at sea.
