Providence officer on administrative duty after early morning shooting, injuring suspect

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Providence police are investigating a shooting involving an officer that sent one city man to the hospital.

The Providence Journal reports ( that police said Adryan Boisseau was shot by a Providence officer early Sunday morning. The 25-year-old Boisseau was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Maj. David Lapatin says Boisseau will be charged with felony assault, possession of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, possession of a firearm without a license and firing a firearm in a compact area.

It was not known Sunday if Boisseau is represented by a lawyer.

Lapatin said police responded to reports of a man with a gun and shots being fired.

The unidentified officer has been placed on administrative duty and state and city police and attorney general's office are investigating.
