Husband of woman found murdered in her Long Island home arrested in upstate New York

PAWLING, New York — The husband of a woman found murdered in her Lake Grove home last week has been arrested in upstate New York.

Suffolk County police said Wednesday Paul Leitgeb was captured by a state police canine team on a hiking trail in Pawling.

Police say the 49-year-old Long Island man had injured himself in the arm and throat and had threatened state troopers who took him into custody.

He's scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge once he is released from a Suffolk County hospital.

Leitgeb is accused of killing his 42-year-old wife, Tricia Odierna. Officers discovered her body inside the home on Win Place on Oct. 1 after receiving a 911 call from the home.

Police say five children lived in the home at the time of the death.
