BRIGHTON, Colorado — A former nursing assistant convicted of sexually assaulting two patients at a Broomfield nursing home where he worked has been sentenced to 24 years to life in prison.

The Broomfield County District Attorney's Office says 42-year-old Antonio Nieto was sentenced Thursday on four counts of sexual assault on an at-risk adult and one count of unlawful sexual contact on an at-risk adult.

Prosecutors say Nieto sexually assaulted a 59-year-old patient and a 73-year-old patient while he worked at Broomfield Skilled Nursing in the summer of 2013. The victims said Nieto assaulted them while he was assigned to their care.

Lawyers also looked into whether a possible third victim, a 93-year-old woman, would be part of the trial, but they agreed there wasn't enough evidence to include her in the case.
