Fourcade started the 12.5-kilometer men's race 27.8 seconds behind Johannes Thingnes Boe, who won Friday's sprint. The Norwegian stayed ahead of the field until missing two targets during his third visit at the shooting range.

Fourcade finished in 32 minutes, 53.7 seconds for his 32nd World Cup win and third of the season, beating Germany's Simon Schempp, who also shot cleanly, by 4.1.

Emil Hegle Svendsen of Norway, who led the overall standings, missed three times and finished 1:37.7 behind in 14th.

Makarainen started first in the women's race following her triumph in Friday's sprint and remained ahead for the entire 10-kilometer race.
