Gibbs' record-setting 350 yards, 5 scores lead Langford Area over Harding County 52-28


VERMILLION, South Dakota — Lincoln Gibbs rushed for an all-class record 350 yards and five touchdowns Friday as Langdon Area beat Harding County 52-28 for its first state 9B football title.

Gibbs scored on runs of 64, 3, 82, 93 and 11 yards for the unbeaten Lions (12-0). His 93-yard run was a 9-man record. He broke the all-class rushing record set one day before.

Langford Area quarterback Chance Olson added 148 yards and TD runs of 1, 16 yards and 63 yards.

The Lions rolled up 569 yards of total offense, 508 yards on the ground.

Harding County quarterback Sam Podzimek ran for a touchdown and passed for two more for the Ranchers (10-2).

Clayton Koch and Garrett Boylan each caught TD passes. Koch had seven catches for 101 yards.

Boylan ran 17 times for 128 yards.
