Mary Keitany of Kenya to defend title at New York City Marathon in November


NEW YORK — Mary Keitany of Kenya will defend her title at the New York City Marathon in November.

Olympic 10,000-meter silver medalist Sally Kipyego plans to make her marathon debut at the race.

Organizer New York Road Runners said Wednesday that the women's field will also include world championship silver medalist Helah Kiprop, Boston Marathon champ Caroline Rotich, London Marathon winner Tigist Tufa, 2013 NYC Marathon champ Priscah Jeptoo, and Buzunesh Deba, a two-time runner-up in New York who lives in the Bronx.

This year's NYC Marathon is Nov. 1.
