DURHAM, New Hampshire — Home gardeners and landscapers can get a glimpse of spring at an annual open house at the University of New Hampshire.
The Macfarlane Research Greenhouses will be open to the public Saturday with demonstrations on cooking with culinary herbs and a discussion of new varieties of squash, pumpkins and melons developed for New England growing conditions.
The UNH horticulture program also will be selling plants, and tours will be given of the greenhouses and areas where students produce greens for on-campus dining facilities.
The greenhouses are part of the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station.
