TUCSON, Arizona — Police in Tucson say a woman has died after her vehicle hit a utility pole.

Police say officers responded Friday around 4:45 p.m. to reports of a single-vehicle collision near East Prince Road and North Wilson Avenue.

The officers found a Mitsubishi Lancer had crashed into the pole and that the driver, 57-year-old Susan S. Nelson, had suffered life-threatening injuries

Authorities say Nelson was taken to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

According to investigators, the car was traveling eastbound and started to drift onto the shoulder before the incident.
