LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — While most college students spend their spring break on the beach, a group of students from Pennsylvania decided to travel to Lafayette to give back to the community.

Each year Lafayette's Habitat for Humanity participates in a program called Collegiate Challenge, which brings in students from across the nation to help build a home for a family in need.

Stephanie Fairley, a volunteer from Point Park University, says her group wanted to make a difference instead of sitting at home, doing nothing. She says it's nice to do something for someone else.

KATC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/190Sm1r ) each week this month, a new group of students will fly into Lafayette to participate. Students from several universities, including Columbia and Syracuse, are due to participate later this month.
