MORRISTOWN, New Jersey — Jury deliberations have started in the murder case of a New York City man accused of setting up the fatal shooting of his wife in northern New Jersey.

Morris County prosecutors say Kashif Parvaiz (par-VEZZ') schemed with a Massachusetts woman to kill his wife and make it look like a random attack. The August 2011 shooting occurred while Parvaiz and his wife, 27-year-old Nazish Noorani, walked with one of their young sons in Boonton.

The panel got the case Wednesday and deliberated for more than two hours without reaching a verdict. Deliberations will resume Thursday morning.

Parvaiz's alleged accomplice, Antoinette Stephen, has pleaded guilty to murder and other offenses and testified against him. The Billerica resident was having an affair with Parvaiz and has admitted firing the fatal shots.
