PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Tyler Varga had 35 carries for 204 yards and two touchdowns, and Yale held off Brown for a 45-42 win on Saturday.

Varga ran 24 yards for his second touchdown on a fourth-and-1 to put the Bulldogs (7-1, 4-1 Ivy League) up 45-35 with 6:18 left in the game.

Brown (4-4, 2-3) answered on Marcus Fuller's 30-yard touchdown pass to Alexander Jette with 3:33 left, closing the deficit to three points for the second time in the fourth.

Yale recovered the ensuing onside kick, and turned exclusively to Varga, who ran six times and converted two first downs to run out the clock. Yale stayed tied for second place and will face Princeton and first-place Harvard to finish the season.

Morgan Roberts threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns, and Grant Wallace had eight catches for 123 yards and a touchdown.

Fuller finished with 393 yards passing for Brown.
