EASTON, Pennsylvania — An eastern Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 16 to 42 years in what police have called a retaliation slaying in an Easton bar more than five years ago.
The (Easton) Express-Times (http://bit.ly/1qqMgd9 ) reports that 37-year-old Franklin Barndt of Easton pleaded guilty in Northampton County Court to conspiracy to commit criminal homicide and terroristic threats.
He was ordered to serve his term in the March 2009 death of 30-year-old Miguel Aponte Jr. after finishing a three-year sentence remaining in another case.
Barndt acknowledged assisting another man in the murder and also acknowledged having threatened law enforcement officers — but said he did so "out of anger" and didn't intend the threats to be taken seriously.
Prosecutors said they are building a case against an alleged shooter in the case.
