CHEYENNE, Wyoming — The Wyoming House of Representatives has passed a bill that would eliminate Wyoming's tax on beer and other malt beverages.

The House voted 49-11 Thursday in favor of House Bill 141. The proposal now goes to the Senate for debate.

The state's malt beverage excise tax of 2 cents per gallon. The tax hasn't increased since 1935 and is the lowest in the country.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that supporters of the bill say the tax should be repealed, since it only nets the state less than $300,000 a year.
