MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, North Carolina — The Marine Corps Test and Evaluation Squadron VMX-22 in New River is getting a new commander.

Col. Michael Orr is scheduled to step down and hand over command to Col. Robert Rauenhorst on Friday.

Lt. Gen. Jon Davis, the Deputy Commandant for Aviation at the Headquarters of the Marine Corps, is the guest speaker.

Orr has served as the commanding officer for the more than 170 Marines and sailors in the unit since July 2012.

Rauenhorst, who has taken part in conversion training for the Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, has been serving as the VMX-22's executive officer. He has flown more than 3,100 hours as a Marine aviator, with 2,700 hours in the F/A-18 jet.
