LIVINGSTON, Louisiana — Livingston Parish school officials are investigating why a young girl was left in school bus after Wednesday morning's commute.
Superintendent John Watson tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1P4aPgQ) the 5-year-old Southside Elementary student was left in a bus at a church between Denham Springs and Walker.
Watson says staff at the church found her after about an hour.
Assistant Superintendent Rick Wentzel says parish bus drivers often have arrangements to leave their vehicles at convenient locations during the day when they are not in use. However, he says drivers are supposed to check for passengers before they disembark.
Authorities said Thursday the case was still under review, and they could not comment on any punishment the driver may face.
