DALLAS — Mavericks guard Monta Ellis was in the starting lineup Wednesday night against Utah a day after coach Rick Carlisle called him doubtful with a left hip injury.

Ellis extended his streak of consecutive games played to 219, a run that started at the beginning of his only full season in Milwaukee. He has played in all 137 games since coming to Dallas last season.

It wasn't clear when Ellis was injured early in the first quarter of Monday's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. He left with 8:03 remaining and didn't return.

The presence of the Mavericks' leading scorer was a boost since they knew they would be without center Tyson Chandler (ankle) and point guard Rajon Rondo (orbital bone).

Ellis' prospects improved when he went through the morning shootaround.
