SPARTA, New Jersey — Emergency crews have recovered the body of a man who disappeared while swimming in a northwestern New Jersey lake.

The body of 39-year-old Edison Gomez was found around 10 a.m. Sunday in Lake Tomahawk, several hours after he had disappeared while swimming with friends.

Sussex County prosecutors say Gomez was last seen around 5:45 p.m. Saturday and did not appear to be in any type of distress. He disappeared a short time later.

The cause and manner of his death remains under investigation.
