NEW YORK — Police say a 20-year-old man is dead after he was thrown from his motorcycle and hit by a car on Staten Island.

The accident happened at 11:43 a.m. Saturday in the Annadale neighborhood.

Police say Randy Raia was riding a motorcycle south on Hylan Boulevard when he lost control of the bike and was thrown to the pavement.

They say Raia was hit by a northbound car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was hospitalized in stable condition. The accident is under investigation.
