HINTON, West Virginia — Federal transportation funds totaling $10 million have been approved to complete a section of the New River Parkway.
U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall announced to funding on Tuesday for the two-lane, 10-mile touring parkway from Hinton to Interstate 64 near Sandstone. The so-called TIGER funds will be used to complete a 5.3 miles of the parkway.
The section earmarked for funding will connect a recently completed 1.35-mile section of the parkway.
The parkway is seen as a gateway to the area's recreational resources linking the New River Gorge National River to the Bluestone National Scenic River.
