ONEIDA, Tennessee — The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is looking for photographs of people, places and events that occurred in the area prior to the park's establishment.

The park is hosting a gathering on May 16 for park visitors and families that once lived and worked in the Stearns coal mining communities.

The event will be held at the Blue Heron Interpretive Center from noon to 4:30 p.m. EDT.

Participants are asked to bring their photographs so that park staff can copy them.

The park museum collection contains over 300 oral histories of local people, and there are hundreds of old photographs relating to the area.

For directions or additional information, call the park at (423) 286-7275 or (606) 376-3787.
