SAUGATUCK, Michigan — A developer is seeking approval for the next phase of a project to build homes on a former church camp site in Saugatuck.

Dune Ridge LLC SA has asked the Saugatuck Planning Commission to approve its plans for a unit development of 14 home sites on about 30 acres of land. The developer wants to build the units under a site condominium concept allowing the homes to be built closer together than a traditional single-family home.

Saugatuck city planning director Michael Clark says a large common area would be provided for all of the residents.

The Grand Rapids Press (http://bit.ly/1CYtVho ) reports development has begun on eight units already approved by the commission as part of the project's first phase.

Dune Ridge purchased the 130-acre Presbyterian Camp property for $10 million.
