LEXINGTON, Kentucky — Kentucky pro players will face a similar squad of North Carolina stars on Sept. 13 at Rupp Arena in an alumni game benefiting charity.
It is the first game matching current or former pro players from both schools. NBA rules prohibit the schools from saying which players will participate in the exhibition.
The schools won't face each other this season after playing the past two years, so the game will serve as a substitute in the rivalry between two of college basketball's winningest programs. It will also be Kentucky's first alumni contest in two years; last year's game was cancelled because a number of players were unable to participate because of other commitments.
