2 dead, 1 injured in crash while following relatives in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Troopers say two women are dead and a man is injured after their car crashed while they followed their relatives on a Las Vegas highway.

Nevada Highway Patrol officials say a Toyota Camry that was following a Mercedes hit the back of the vehicle about 7 p.m. Saturday on the 215 beltway. The Mercedes stopped in the shoulder after the impact, but the Camry continued onto an off-ramp, across traffic on Decatur Boulevard and into a block wall.

Troopers say the Camry vaulted into the air and then partially caught on fire after the crash.

The 25-year-old male driver from Wisconsin was taken to University Medical Center. A 58-year-old female passenger died of her injuries at the hospital.

A 21-year-old female passenger from Wisconsin was pronounced dead on the scene.
