DALLAS — Three-time defending state champion Allen tops Class 6A in the 2015 Texas Associated Press high school football preseason poll, and two-time champ Aledo leads the 5A rankings.

Allen received 14 of 25 first-place votes and 231 points from a panel of writers, editors and broadcasters who cover the Texas schoolboy ranks. No. 2 DeSoto, which lost to Allen in the playoffs the past two years, had eight first-place votes and 214 points in the poll released Wednesday.

The state's highest classification was renamed Class 6A last year, and Allen took the Division I title after winning the 5A Division I crown in 2012 and 2013.

Aledo won the 5A Division I title last year after taking the 4A Division II championship in 2013. Aledo has five state titles in the past six years.

The top-ranked teams in lower classifications are defending champions: Navasota (4A), Cameron Yoe (3A) and Canadian (2A).
