NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — A 16-year-old Central Texas boy has been convicted of misdemeanor assault in a juvenile court in the attack that injured a fellow high school student's head fatally.

The San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/1Eetpaf ) reports a Comal County jury deliberated about 10 hours before returning the "true" verdict against the youth, whose identity is withheld because he's a juvenile. Prosecutors had sought a murder or manslaughter conviction.

Fifteen-year-old Logan Davidson was punched twice in a Canyon High School hallway in New Braunfels in November 2013. His head struck a wall, causing blunt-force trauma of which he died in a hospital the next day.

The defendant also was age 15 at the time of the attack. Comal County Court-at-Law Judge Charles Stephens scheduled sentencing for July 2.
