RALEIGH, North Carolina — The Bonner Bridge will be closed briefly so workers with the state Transportation Department can scan the deck of the span over the Oregon Inlet.
The bridge will be closed for 30 minutes starting at 9 a.m. Monday so workers can scan the bridge. This is the third of three scans that DOT scheduled for this year.
The scans will provide the DOT with a historical database of location coordinates for the bridge deck, allowing the state to evaluate the bridge after severe weather. After Monday, scans will take place once a year and after severe weather.
After the scan, the bridge will be down to one lane until 4:30 p.m. One lane will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
DOT also performs monthly underwater sonar scans.
