Central Ohio police trying to sort out officer-involved shooting that ended with man dead

GROVEPORT, Ohio — Authorities say a dispute between two people in a parked car ended with a man dead, a woman wounded and a central Ohio police officer firing his weapon.

Police in the Columbus suburb of Groveport are trying to sort out what happened in the Thursday incident that left the woman hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Police Sgt. Brian Thompson tells The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1iyH49j ) that it wasn't clear who shot whom, but shots were fired before the officer got involved.

The officer fired his gun, but it wasn't clear if he hit anyone. The man ran away and was found about 50 yards away. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The names of the man and woman haven't been released. Thompson says they are from the area.
