IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — An Idaho Falls man who set fire to the home of an attorney who represented his former wife in a divorce case has pleaded guilty to first-degree arson.
The Post Register reports (http://bit.ly/1bt0Gbe ) that 44-year-old Melvin Savage made the plea Tuesday in 7th District Court.
Police say that Savage went to the attorney's home at about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 and started a fire outside a window near the front door.
An Idaho Falls Police officer responded to the attorney's 911 call and helped the attorney's husband extinguish the fire at the home that sustained no significant damage.
Savage fled to Colorado, but was arrested less than a day after the fire.
Judge Dane Watkins Jr. ordered Savage held in custody until a sentencing hearing set for May 4.
