Authorities treating shooting death of 56-year-old man in Rapid City as a homicide case

RAPID CITY, South Dakota — Rapid City police are treating the shooting death of a man as a homicide.

Officers responding to a report of a disturbance about 11 p.m. Tuesday found a 56-year-old man with a gunshot wound lying in a yard. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Authorities did not immediately identify the victim or say if they have a suspect in the shooting.

It's the seventh homicide in Rapid City this year.
