Jake Melville runs for 2 TDs, throws for another as Colgate beats Lehigh 49-42


HAMILTON, New York — Jake Melville ran for two touchdowns and threw for a third as Colgate remained undefeated in conference with a 49-42 win over Lehigh on Saturday.

Melville passed for 173 yards and rushed for 132 yards for the Raiders (6-4, 5-0 Patriot League). Demetrius Russell ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns and James Holland ran for two more scores.

Melville ran for a 28-yard touchdown on Colgate's first possession, capping a nine-play, 65-yard drive. Later, Holland scored on a 1-yard run to finish off the first quarter. Melville and Russell scored rushing touchdowns in the second quarter for a 28-28 tie at halftime.

Russell scored again in the third quarter and Melville threw a fourth-quarter touchdown to Alex Greenawalt to put Colgate on top, 42-35, with 7:14 to play.

The Mountain Hawks (5-5, 3-2) tied it up again and the Raiders answered with another score by Holland with 2:49 remaining for the win.
