Morgantown elementary school named winner of national environmental award

CHARLESTON, West Virginia — A school in Morgantown has been singled out for its environmentally friendly practices.

The U.S. Department of Education named North Elementary School as a Green Ribbon School. The state Board of Education honored the school at its monthly meeting Wednesday in Charleston.

North Elementary uses garden-based learning as part of its curriculum.

It was among 81 schools, districts and postsecondary institutions selected for the award nationwide.
