MINOT, North Dakota — The attorney for a Minot man accused of beating his girlfriend to death has been granted more time to work out a settlement with prosecutors.
Forty-seven-year-old Darin Parker is charged with murder in the death of 44-year-old Karrie Williams in February 2014. She was found injured at an apartment and died hours later at a hospital.
Parker has pleaded not guilty. KXMC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1AKOMCC ) that Judge Richard Hagar during a pretrial hearing on Wednesday granted a two-week extension to allow more time for defense attorney Eric Baumann to negotiate a plea deal with prosecutors.
Parker could face life in prison without parole if the case goes to trial and he is convicted.
