LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — Gov. Asa Hutchinson says overseas trips like his recent economic development mission to France and Europe give Arkansas a chance to compete globally for jobs and companies.
Hutchinson told members of the Little Rock Rotary Club on Tuesday that his trip to Europe allowed him to market the state to potential and existing employers, noting it was the first time Arkansas had been represented at the Paris Air Show. Hutchinson's trip also included a visit to a steel trade show in Germany.
Hutchinson also called for giving President Barack Obama fast-track negotiating authority for trade agreements. Hutchinson said the move would help Arkansas and other states attract companies that aren't doing business in the U.S. because of high export tariffs.
