FOREST, Mississippi — The slate of candidates has been set for five seats on the new school board for the Scott County School District.

The state took over the district a year ago after finding that former Superintendent Bingham Moncrief ruled through intimidation and flouted state rules.

Former school board members were barred for running in the special election, now scheduled for April 7.

At least two candidates on are the ballot for each of the five posts.

Conservator Mark Boyles says the new board members will be required to complete training by state officials and then the board will begin the search for a new superintendent of education for the 4,200-student school district.

The Scott County Times reports (http://bit.ly/1F73oPG ) Boyles will oversee the initial steps of the search process for a superintendent.
