FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina — Authorities say a driver who ran through a stop sign and caused a crash that killed another motorist in Fayetteville had struck another car in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant moments before the second collision.
Police say 30-year-old Jimmy Gilchrist was arrested while walking down a street Friday morning about six hours after the fatal crash.
Investigators say Gilchrist ran a stop sign in his Chevrolet Aveo after the parking lot wreck and crashed into the side of a SUV.
Authorities say the SUV driver, 28-year-old Joseph Snoke, was killed, and his passenger, 37-year-old Kesha Oxendine, was in critical condition at the hospital.
Gilchrist is been charged with voluntary manslaughter, felonious hit and run and careless and reckless driving. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
