SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco police are puzzling over how to stop what they say is more senseless vandalism in the city's Golden Gate Park.

The latest in more than a year of attacks came this weekend, when according to the San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1oVNDTr), benches and trees at the park's AIDS Memorial Grove were damaged and a Department of Recreation and Park truck had its windows smashed.

Vandals have previously gone after saplings and rose bushes in the park.

Police Capt. Simon Silverman said authorities are stepping up patrols and meeting with a local prosecutor to figure out ways to stop the attacks. Four officers patrol Golden Gate Park full-time.
