COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — Much of south central and southeastern Colorado is under a flash flood watch Sunday because of the potential heavy rain from thunderstorms.

Areas burned by recent wildfires, including the Waldo Canyon Fire and the Royal Gorge Fire, will be at greater risk of flooding.

The Gazette (http://bit.ly/1tQ7IKL ) reports that highway workers are on call to shut down U.S. Highway 24 near the Waldo Canyon burn scar. Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Bob Wilson says the road will be closed if a flood warning is issued for the Waldo Canyon burn scar of if at least a quarter-inch of rain falls.
