Attack involving suicide car bomb in Egypt's Sinai kills 3 police, wounds 12

CAIRO — Egypt's state-run Middle East News Agency says three policemen have been killed and 12 others wounded in an attack on a hotel in the restive northern Sinai Peninsula that involved a suicide car bomb. It said two civilians were also wounded.

MENA says gunmen exchanged fire with police near a hotel in El-Arish where judges who supervised Monday's parliamentary elections were staying.

It says that during the shootout, a suicide car bomber tried to strike the hotel, but the bomb went off before the vehicle could enter. The explosion damaged the hotel.
