ZEPHYRHILLS, Florida — Authorities say an 8-year-old autistic boy was in critical condition following a fire at his Tampa Bay area home.

Zephyrhills police say the boy was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital on Tuesday night, suffering severe burns from a fire that originated in his bedroom. Police and the state fire marshal were investigating.

Officials say the boy's mother and a man who lived at the apartment were not injured in the blaze.
