HONEOYE, New York — Authorities say a man has died after his car crashed off a western New York and landed on its roof in a creek.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says the man was traveling on a road in the hamlet of Honeoye on Wednesday afternoon when it went down a 20-foot embankment and landed in a creek about 20 miles south of Rochester.

Deputies say a person walking along the road spotted the overturned car around 7 p.m. When emergency crews arrived, they found a man dead inside the vehicle.

The man's name hasn't been released. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
