SKANEATELES, New York — New York State Police say a car has veered into the path of a tractor-trailer, killing the car's driver and injuring two men in the truck.

Troopers say 37-year-old Cash Holtby, of Auburn, was traveling east on state Route 20 on Wednesday night when he crossed into the westbound lane in the Onondaga County town of Skaneateles (skihn-ee-AT'-luhs), 15 miles southwest of Syracuse.

Police say Holtby's car tried to re-enter his lane, but he was unable to avoid hitting a tractor-trailer head-on.

Holtby died at the scene.

The truck driver from Lithonia, Georgia, and his passenger were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

State police are trying to determine what caused the car to veer into the other lane.
