DENVER — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating after a man was hit by a vehicle while lying in a road in Adams County.

The Denver Post reports (http://goo.gl/f7xwrq ) the man, whose name has not been released, was lying in the southbound lanes of Pecos Street just south of West 76th Avenue when he was hit Monday night. He died at a hospital.

Investigators say a full-sized, brown pickup might have been involved in the accident. The driver, who did not stop, might not have realized that someone was hit because the victim was wearing dark-colored clothing.

Authorities have not said why the man was lying in the road.
